Episode 12 - Created to Worship

Last week I talked about the fact that God calls us, even commands us, to worship Him. One of the verses I quoted was Mark 12:30 where Jesus tells a scribe that the greatest commandment is
to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
God does not need anything. He is not some insecure being that needs our praise. He is not so weak that He can't function without our worship. So, there must be another reason for God to command us to worship Him.
There are certainly multiple reasons, but one thing stands out to me: God is our Creator and all of His commandments are designed for our good. Therefore, I believe God has created us in such a way that we are not fulfilled until we worship. There is a hole in our soul that only God can fill. If we don't fill it with worship of God, we will fill it with something or someone else.
I believe God made us this way so that we would be drawn to Him and stay close to Him. But sin has caused us to try to fill the hole with all kinds of things – none of which can satisfy.
