Worship and Ministry Classes

At Worship Arts Conservatory we offer courses in worship, ministry and music. These courses will help you become a skilled and confident ministry leader.

All of these courses are part of our programs of study. For your convenience, Our programs are divided up into three schools:

This is a tentative list. Course availability is subject to change based upon enrollment and faculty scheduling. Format, dates and times are added when available.

Course Formats

Blended - Instruction is both online and onsite. The mix of online and onsite time will vary between courses.

Online - Instruction is all online. Online courses do not have a day or time. Instead, students have required weekly videos and assignments with due dates but videos can be watched at anytime during the assigned week.

Winter 2024

BIL-110 New Testament Survey - 3 credit hours

Instructor: James Chambers

Location: Grounds for Belief Community Church and Online

A survey of the literature and interpretation of the New Testament. Attention will be given to the central themes, and the authorship, date, setting, theme, purpose, structure and general content of each book. The life of Christ, history of the church and impact of the Apostle Paul will also be highlighted.

Price: $300 after scholarships
GEN 140: Introduction to Psychology - 3 credit hours

Instructor: Darrell Hervey

Location: Online

This course will introduce you to the fundamental principles of psychology and to the major subjects of psychological inquiry. A special perspective will focus on musical psychology, and isolating which specific features of a musical work or performance convey or elicit certain reactions, the nature of the reactions themselves, and how characteristics of the listener may determine which emotions are felt.

Price: $300 after scholarships
MUS-105 Elements of Music - 2 credit hours

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Online

An introduction to the fundamentals of music: major and minor scales, key signatures, triads, and simple tonal harmony.
Price: $200 after scholarships
MUS-110 Music Theory I - 3 credit hours

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Lakeside Church and Online

Study of simple four part harmony. Learn figured bass, chord symbols, cadences, non-harmonic tones, voice-leading, dominant seventh chords and harmonic progression. Prerequisite: MUS-105 or permission of instructor. To be taken concurrently with MUS-115.

MUS-120 Voice Class - 2 credit hours

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Lakeside and Online

Study basic vocal techniques, including breathing, tone production, note reading, and fundamental vocabulary for singers. Learn healthy vocal habits.

Price: $200 after scholarships

MUS-115 Ear Training I - 1 credit hour

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Lakeside Church and Online

Learn to sing and dictate all intervals and scales. Identify major and minor triads. Develop rhythm awareness. To be taken concurrently with MUS-110.

Price: $100 after scholarships

MUS-130 Piano Class - 2 credit hours

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Lakeside Church and Online

Study basic piano techniques, including two hand coordination, five-finger patterns, scales, triad playing, reading chord symbols, pedaling and the most common chord progressions.

Price: $200 after scholarships
MUS-162 Applied Study I: Voice- 2 credit hours
Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick Location: Lakeside Church and Online Individual instruction in your chosen instrument. Emphasis is placed upon technical mastery, performance preparation and literature study. An addition fee per semester is required. Price: $200 after scholarships
MUS-320 Music History I - 3 credit hours

Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick

Location: Lakeside and Online

A survey of the major styles in Western music from the earliest examples to the conclusion of the baroque period.

Price: $300 after scholarships
MUS-362 Applied Study III: Voice - 2 credit hours
Instructor: Dr. Jerry Wyrick Location: Lakeside Church and Online Individual instruction in voice. Emphasis is placed upon technical mastery, performance preparation and literature study. An addition fee per semester is required. Price: $200 after scholarships
MUS-462 Applied Study IV: Voice - 2 credit hours
