Episode 40 - God Loves Instrumental Music
In Episode 40 of Worship Moments, Dr. Wyrick shows us that God loves instrumental music as well as vocal music.
For those who prefer to read, below is the text of the video:
Can playing an instrument be worship? That is our topic for this video.
One of the things we have looked at in these videos is a few of the original Hebrew words used in the Bible for worship. We have looked at Shachah, Tawdah, Halal, Shabach, Tehillah, and Yadah. In this video we will look at the word “Zamar”.
Zamar literally means “to touch the strings”. It was used to mean playing an instrument or singing to an instrument.
This word reminds me that God loves instrumental music too. As a musician, we can offer our praise through our instrument. Sometimes music speaks in a way that words cannot. Sometimes the words just get in the way.
If you play an instrument in the worship band but don't sing – remember that your gift is valued by God. If you are a singer or are in the congregation during worship, when the singing stops and the music continues – don't zone out. The music is as much a gift to God as the singing.
God loves instrumental music. Next chance you get, make sure you worship God through the instrumental music, not just the words.
