For those who prefer to read, here is the text of the video.
The English word “worship” is made of two parts. The first part, w-o-r, comes from the word “worth” or “worthy”. The second part is the suffix “ship” which refers to a state of being, status or skill. So, for instance the word “friendship” means the state of being a friend. So put these together and “worship” means the state of being worthy (as in the old honorific “your worship”) or it can refer to the action of declaring someone worthy.
The exciting thing is that when we worship God we have chosen the most worthy Being – the most worthy object in the universe upon which to focus our praise. There is nothing and no one more worthy of our adoration. As the elders around the throne of God in Revelation 4:11 proclaim,
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, since you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created!”
Wow! Let's take time right now and join with the heavenly chorus as they worship our amazing God!
