The Only Thing That Matters

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision carries any weight—the only thing that matters is faith working through love.  Galatians 5:6 (NET)

There are so many things in life
calling out for our attention;
so many good things,
so many enjoyable things,
so many important things.

But only one thing really counts.
Only one thing has eternal value,
Only one thing moves mountains,
Only one thing expands God’s Kingdom on earth.

Faith working through love –
the one thing,
the only thing that really matters.

Not just faith,
Not a creed to which we give assent,
Not a “salvation” prayer,
Not faithful church attendance,
Not even a belief in God,
But faith working through love.

Faith that goes beyond words.
Faith that touches lives.
Faith that moves us to action.

Lord, what kind of faith do I have?
Is my faith displayed through love?
Or is it just a logical belief with no real life?

Move me Lord to do the one thing that really matters:
Move me to live out my faith through love.
