Bible study is the christian discipline of studying a text of scripture in detail to better understand the meaning. There are multiple ways a person can study the scripture. Here are a few of the most common methods:
- In-debth text study – studying a specific text to understand the meaning.
- Word study – studying a word to see how it is used throughout scripture.
- Character study – studying a specific character in scripture.
The most common method of bible study involves three steps:
- Observation – carefully studying the text
- Interpretation – deciding what you believe the text is saying
- Application – applying the text to your personal life
