Meet Don Carey – Speaker for September 12 Banquet

Don Carey is the keynote speaker at our upcoming September 12 Banquet. For those of you who are not familiar with Don Carey here is a short Bio.

Don has been playing in the NFL for the last 9 years and has been a member of the Detroit Lions since 2011. Although he is listed as a safety, his main contributions have been as a special teams ace gunner. While the Detroit Lions have one of the best punters in Sam Martin they also have two of the best gunners, Don Carey and Johnson Bademosi. A gunners responsibility is to run down the side line and tackle the the kick returner. Carey led the NFL in 2015 in solo special teams tackles, despite being doubled on nearly every punt.

Last year he was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award and this year he is coming out with his new book, “I Am Not Better Than You,” which will be available at our banquet. This summer he hosted a football camp for more than 200 youth at Martin Luther King, Jr High School.

On top of all of these accomplishments he has also managed to squeeze in time to take some courses in Old Testament studies at the Detroit campus of Moody Theological Seminary and hopes to complete a masters degree in Old Testament studies.

Please come out to our September 12 Banquet and enjoy our dynamic speaker, Don Carey.
